Giants meeting with Gabe Davis in step toward potential reunion with Joe Schoen, Brian Daboll

The Giants are indeed meeting with wide receiver Gabe Davis, but it will not need to be a getting-to-know-you visit.Davis will spend time at the team facility on Wednesday and reconnect with Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll. All three were together during the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Bills and a more permanent reunion could be an upcoming development.Davis, 26, was released last week by the Jaguars.

Daboll at the time was Bills offensive coordinator.Davis, after catching seven touchdown passes as a rookie, was outstanding in the 2021 postseason. He had eight receptions for 201 yards and an NFL-record four touchdown receptions in an AFC divisional-round overtime loss to the Chiefs.Davis’ career did not take off after that.

Last year, he signed a three-year, $39 million contract with the Jaguars, with $24 million in guaranteed money, but in 10 games he caught only 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the 2024 season on the sideline with a torn meniscus and the Giants no doubt will want to check on the health of his knee.If he is signed, Davis will have a working knowledge of the Giants offense from his days playing for Daboll with the Bills....
