LIV Golf CEO Scott ONeil cant guarantee tour will finish season

LIV Golf’s season might end sooner than expected.When asked point-blank, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil couldn’t guarantee their four remaining tournaments in the 2026 season would take place.The deflection comes two days after Front Office Sports reported there is a growing feeling amongst those in and around LIV that the money from the Saudi Public Investment Fund could be pulled at any time.

Though the PIF announced it would wait til the end of the season, one executive thinks “LIV Golf doesn’t know if or when the PIF will shut off the spigot.”One event, scheduled to take place in New Orleans this June, was already canceled.That tournament, though, was reportedly voided due to the summer heat and conflicts with the World Cup; it could be moved to the fall.LIV has just four events planned for the rest of the season, ending in August with LIV Golf’s Michigan-based team championship tournament.“I don’t think they’ll ever get to Michigan,” someone with ties to LIV and the PGA Tour said.

Two other events will take place in the United States.The safest tournament, according to the FOS report, is in early August at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. LIV executives have been scrambling to find new investors after the PIF founded the entire tour, spending over $6 billion since the league’s launch in 2022.“We continue to see strong momentum both on and off the course,” O’Neil said in a statement.“We’ve begun sharing our business plan with prospective partners who recognize the opportunity in team golf on a global scale.”The tour does still hold some of the golf world’s biggest names, including Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson.“What I can guarantee is a heck of a return if you come invest in this business,” Scott said on air to CNBC....
