J.J. McCarthy was born to be QB, emotional home video reveals before 2024 NFL Draft: Pops knew

J.J.McCarthy was destined to be a quarterback from birth. An unearthed home video that aired on “The Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday showed how the 2024 NFL Draft prospect’s father, Jim, seemingly predicted his son’s future the day that McCarthy was born. “It’s pretty much, long story short, my dad manifesting my entire life and it was right before I was born,” McCarthy said during the sitdown with Eisen.

“Him just kind of going through the names and what my name was gonna be.… And he was just like, ‘This is gonna be daddy’s little quarterback.’” “Pops knew the whole time,” McCarthy added. The video showed McCarthy’s mom, Megan, sitting in the hospital bed while Jim recorded the conversation about possible names. McCarthy, who is expected to be selected in the first round of the draft, said that his father had only shown him the video six months ago and that Wednesday was the first time that McCarthy shared the video with anyone else. “I was just like, ‘How come I didn’t see this early?’” McCarthy explained about his reaction to only seeing the video recently.

“He said, ‘I was just waiting.’ He’s a patient guy.”Jim won’t have to wait too much longer to see his son become an NFL quarterback, with the draft just a day away in Detroit. McCarthy helped lead Michigan to the program’s first national championship since 1997, and he stands to potentially be one of the biggest wild cards in the draft. Caleb Williams is expected to go first overall to the Bears, with Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye most likely to go second and third overall. McCarthy’s name has been linked to the Giants and Patriots, and the signal-caller said during “The Rich Eisen Show” appearance he said that he spent the most time with the Giants during his pre-draft process. “I have somewhat of an idea,” McCarthy said when asked if he had any idea where he was going to be picked. “New York Giants, I’ve spent the most time with...
