Ron Darling rips Luis Severino for inexcusable mistake that cost Mets

A bad moment was made worse by the Mets on Wednesday night. After Luis Severino gave up a game-tying RBI single to the Nationals’ Juan Yepez in the top of the fourth inning, the starter didn’t back up home plate and catcher Francisco Alvarez — enabling another run to score after right fielder Tyrone Taylor made an errant throw.SNY color commentator Ron Darling wasn’t too pleased with Severino’s effort on the play.“This is inexcusable,” Darling said on the broadcast.“All it takes is a little hustle by a pitcher.
