Iowa fans go wild for Caitlin Clark during Fever stars return for WNBA preseason game

It was as if Caitlin Clark never left Iowa. The WNBA superstar returned to her alma mater Sunday along with the Fever for a preseason game, and Clark was welcomed back with thunderous applause and cheers from the Hawkeyes faithful. Fans lined up around the arena to get inside for the exhibition match between the Fever and the Brazil National Team at Hawkeye Arena, where Clark called home for four years while she played college basketball and became a hoops star.Tickets for the game averaged around $670, which had been the highest price on record since 2015, according to Vivid Seats. Inside the arena, all eyes were on Clark when she came out of the locker room to adoring fans, and she made sure to stop to sign autographs as supporters reached over the railing near the player tunnel. “It’s exciting to see Caitlin and how much she’s improved and what she’s grown and how this professional team is different from the college team,” fan Rick Mason told HawkCentral.Clark said before Sunday’s game that she was looking forward to returning to Iowa to play. “I honestly haven’t been back to Iowa City a ton since I left a year ago,” Clark said, according to the Indy Star.“I’ve only been back a couple times, once for a football game and once for my jersey retirement.
