The Versailles of Alabama a palatial mansion with a guitar-shaped driveway has entered contract

An unknown buyer has claimed the throne at Alabama’s very own Palace of Versailles. The roughly 55,000-square-foot, over-the-top mansion entered into contract last week, Business Insider reported. The 27-acre property is locally known as “the guitar house,” thanks to its distinctive driveway shaped like a guitar.
Although the chateau evokes European castles, the opulent mansion is just 15 minutes from Birmingham. The chateau, located in the gated residential community of Shoal Creek, reportedly took former MedPartners CEO Larry House more than $30 million and several years to construct.Financial woes led House to part with the home at a major loss in the early 2000s. A series of rocky sales and auctions saw the sales price fall away to $4.8 million in 2017, when the palatial home sold at auction to Medical Cloud Computing LLC, Birmingham Business Journal reported.

The home went under contract on April 28, according to Zillow. The final listing price, and who is paying it, is yet unknown. The Luxe Group could not be reached for comment. The Shoal Creek dwelling boasts a whopping 15 bedrooms and 22 bathrooms, according to the listing. The most recent listing photos of the property show a near-empty, cavernous abode. The interiors of the home are covered in gold leaf molding, custom millwork and handpicked marble.
The great room features custom-painted murals on the walls and ceiling, accented by a crystal chandelier, with herringbone floors below. Other rooms of note include a ballroom, a billiards room, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar and a 25-seat cinema with a ticket booth.Elsewhere on the property, amid fountains and gardens, is a six-stable barn, a riding arena and a large guesthouse with a two-car garage....
