Giants Abdul Carter heartbroken by tragic ATV crash that killed ex-Penn State teammates girlfriend

Giants rookie Abdul Carter reacted with sadness to the tragedy involving a former Penn State teammate that occurred over the holiday weekend. Julian Fleming, 24, suffered serious injuries during an ATV accident that also killed Fleming’s 23-year-old girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd. In a post on his X, Carter wrote “stay strong” along with two broken heart emojis and two praying hand emojis. “Julian Fleming,” he added in the post with two flexing arm emojis.Carter and Fleming were teammates last season in Carter’s third year with the Nittany Lions.The tragic event occurred while Fleming was riding an ATV with Boyd on a rural road in Bradford County, Pa., near the New York state border. The ATV collided with a deer in front of them. Boyd suffered “extensive injuries” from the accident and died at the scene. Fleming sustained serious injuries and was taken to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.Boyd’s family members declined to comment when reached by The Post on Sunday. The body of the deer believed to be the cause of the accident was recovered by Pennsylvania State Police. “Neither of the occupants were wearing safety equipment,” the police report stated.“The operator of the ATV sustained serious injuries and was transported to Guthrie Troy Community Hospital.
The passenger sustained extensive injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.A recently deceased deer was located on scene consistent with damage observed on the ATV.”Both Fleming and Boyd were from Pennsylvania. Fleming was the top recruit in ESPN’s Class of 2020 out of high school and played for Ohio State until 2023, when he transferred to Penn State for the following season to close out his college career.He played 16 games for Penn State in 2024.
