Mets beat up on Rockies as they keep hot streak going

For now, though, they are basking in the glow of the Washington Generals portion of their schedule, making easy work of the hopeless Rockies on Saturday with an 8-2 win.The victory got the Mets to a season-high 14 games over .500 (36-22), with their sixth win in seven games — a stretch that began with two wins over the Dodgers in Queens, but has been bolstered by facing the Rockies (9-49) after the White Sox.On Saturday, Brett Baty got things started with a three-run triple in a four-run bottom of the first.In the fourth, back-to-back homers by Brandon Nimmo and Juan Soto put the game away against overmatched right-hander Antonio Senzatela, who allowed seven runs in four innings to see his ERA jump — but just slightly — to 7.14.And then there was Kodai Senga, who was touched for a solo homer by Ezequiel Tovar two batters into the game.The shot by Tovar was the only baserunner the right-hander allowed until Tovar walked to start the seventh after Senga retired 17 straight and 18 of 19 overall.Senga needed just seven pitches to get through the third and nine in the fourth.He faltered in the seventh, walking Ryan McMahon two batters after the walk to Tovar.Thairo Estrada’s RBI base hit through the left side of the infield ended Senga’s afternoon.He ended up allowing a pair of runs on just two hits in 6 ⅓ innings.He’s given up two or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 11 starts this season, with an ERA of 1.60.
