'A Real American Disgrace!': Stephen Colbert Nails Trump's Most 'Half-Assed' Effort Yet

LOADINGERROR LOADING“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump didn’t exactly bring his A-game with his attempt at taunting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell this week.The president has been trying to pressure Powell into lowering interest rates, to no avail.

Trump fired off a tweet calling him ”‘Too Late’ Jerome Powell,” and adding, “TOO LATE’s an American Disgrace!” Advertisement Colbert wasn’t impressed.“You want a real American disgrace?” he asked.“That half-assed nickname! ‘Too Late?’ ‘Too Late?’ You can’t do better than ‘Too Late?’”Colbert offered the president some more effective options.“What about ‘Loose Bowel Jerome Powell?’” he asked.

“What about, ‘Jerome, Jerome, the business gnome, won’t lower mortgage rates on your home?’ Come on!” He noted that “Too Late” was a far cry from the types of mean-spirited nicknames Trump used to cook up.Advertisement “This country used to have standards,” Colbert lamented, then listed off some of the president’s previous work: “Meatball Ron!
