Longtime Raptors exec Masai Ujiri out in massive NBA shakeup

The Raptors need a new leader.The franchise parted ways with longtime vice chairman and president Masai Ujiri on Friday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.Ujiri, 54, was reportedly entering the final year of his contract with the team, what would have been his 13th season in Toronto.He began with the Raptors in 2013-14 and guided the franchise to its first and only NBA title in 2018-19.The team has struggled in recent seasons, finishing with a 30-52 mark last season that saw Toronto miss the playoffs for a third straight time.A longtime favorite of Knicks owner James Dolan — they tried to poach him from Toronto in 2019 — Ujiri will likely attract plenty of attention as a free agent.
