Mets confirm Griffin Cannings ruptured Achilles in devastating injury blow

The Mets signed Canning last offseason to a one-year contract worth $4.25 million.Tidwell, 23, has started twice for the Mets this season, most recently in Philadelphia last Friday, and pitched to a 9.82 ERA.Canning joined Sean Manaea, Kodai Senga and Tylor Megill among Mets starting pitchers on the injured list.In other roster moves, Jared Young was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse with Mark Vientos returning from the IL.Also, Austin Warren was optioned and the Mets recalled lefty Colin Poche....
