Islanders shore up depth with Liam Foudy, Julien Gauthier signings after strong NHL draft

After a strong showing at the 2025 NHL Draft this weekend, the Islanders padded their organizational depth with a couple of deals.Both restricted free agent Liam Foudy and unrestricted free agent Julien Gauthier signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Isles on Sunday, the team announced.The two forwards will likely end up playing for the team’s AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders, next season.Foudy, who came to the Islanders as a free agent from the Predators last July, posted 20 goals and 25 assists in 70 games for Bridgeport last season.An 18th-overall pick by the Blue Jackets in 2018, Foudy appeared in two games for the Islanders last season, as well.

In nine games for Bridgeport last season, Gauthier collected three goals and five assists with a plus-two rating.He also appeared in one game with the Islanders in 2024-25, a 4-3 shootout win over the Canadiens on Oct.
