Dolphins send Jalen Ramsey to Steelers in NFL blockbuster after months of trade buzz

A blockbuster trade rocked the NFL world on Monday.The Dolphins have agreed to trade three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Steelers in exchange for three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, per multiple reports.Fitzpatrick, 28, will return to Miami, where his NFL career began as the Dolphins’ 11th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.Ramsey, 30, will receive a $1.5 million raise this season, bringing his 2025 salary up to $26.6 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ramsey confirmed the trade, posting Monday to X, “Break my own news!” with the hashtag, “Here We Go.” The Dolphins also sent tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh round pick to Pittsburgh in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick to complete the deal.Smith will get a one-year contract extension for $12 million, as confirmed by his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.It’s another reunion for Smith and Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith after they were together in Tennessee and Atlanta.The Steelers have been active this offseason, signing former MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year deal earlier this month — and acquiring wideout DK Metcalf and cornerback Darius Slay.The Steelers open the 2025 season against the Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sept.
