Doja Cat Trolls Sydney Sweeneys Controversial American Eagle Ad In Viral Video

Doja Cat and Sydney Sweeney.TikTok/GettyDoja Cat is seemingly trolling Sydney Sweeney over her controversial American Eagle ad, for which the actress faced backlash online.In a now-viral TikTok video, the rapper delivers the “Euphoria” star’s lines from the ad but uses an exaggerated backwoods accent.

Advertisement “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color… my jeans are blue,” Doja says in the clip, mocking Sweeney’s exact words from the ad.In Sweeney’s promo video for the ad campaign, the same one mocked by Doja, Sweeney, who has blue eyes and blonde hair, is seen lying back on a couch while fastening her pants.

After she delivers her lines, a male narrator concludes, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”The ad’s play on words faced scrutiny after some pointed out that it has white supremacist undertones and could be interpreted as a nod to eugenics, the racist and inaccurate theory that human genetics can be improved through selective and controlled breeding of populations.Advertisement In another ad shared by AE that’s caused a stir, Sweeney stands in front of a massive poster of herself with the words “Sydney Sweeney has great genes” on it.

As she walks past the poster, the word “genes” gets crossed out and swapped with the word “jeans.” After widespread criticism, American Eagle removed several of Sweeney’s campaign videos from the clothing brand’s official accounts.Reps for American Eagle and Sweeney immediately respond to HuffPost’s requests for comment.

This isn’t the first time Sweeney has found herself at the center of political discourse.In 2022, she was slammed by fans after photos showed guests wearing MAGA-like hats at a 60th birthday party for her mom.
