Francisco Alvarez exits after getting drilled on arm in possible Mets worry

In what had the makings of a rarity — a non-stressful Mets victory — the Mets found stress.Francisco Alvarez was removed in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s 8-3 win over the Padres at Citi Field after a 99.8 mph fastball struck his left arm.There was no immediate update from the Mets concerning the severity.Alvarez, already playing with a right thumb that requires UCL surgery and a broken pinkie on his left hand, stepped in against San Diego’s Bradgley Rodriguez in the eighth with the the Mets leading, 8-3.
Rodriguez did not appear to have much command, and his third pitch at the at-bat drilled Alvarez, who went to a knee in obvious pain.He made his way to first base clearly hobbled and was replaced by Hayden Senger....
