All hail Jay Jacobs, the state Democratic chairman, for refusing to bend the knee to Zohran Mamdani, warning that the candidate’s socialist agenda doesn’t represent “the principles, values or policies of the Democratic Party.”What a contrast to Gov.Kathy Hochul, who this week endorsed Mamdani on the clear calculation that it’ll boost her re-election chances next year, no matter how much they disagree on principles and values.Among those values, as Jacobs noted: “I strongly disagree with [Mamdani’s] views on the state of Israel.”Hear, hear.

Makes you wonder what’s keeping other Democrats from pointing out that the avowed socialist’s principles are at odds with the Democratic — not to mention the American — mainstream.Long Island Reps.Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen and Bronx Assemblyman Michael Benedetto also proudly refuse to get on the Mamdani bandwagon, while Sen.

Chuck Schumer and Rep.Hakeem Jeffries, the party’s top leaders in Congress, at least stay silent.Jacobs, as state chairman and chief fundraiser, has a duty to protect moderate Democrats in swing districts across the state.Sure, lefties like state Sen.
