Heroic teens help save Georgia man from drowning in freak ATV spill: Three little angels

A Georgia man was on his ATV spraying weeds then the vehicle toppled into a pond and pinned his body under water — prompting three teen “angels” fishing nearby to rush to his rescue.“The only thing that kept running through my mind was my two boys — I wanted to see them one more time,” George Etheredge told a local news station in Worth County, Georgia.Etheredge said he was driving his ATV along his property with a 25-gallon tank of weed killer on the back when the four-wheeler slipped, flipped into the pond and pinned him under it Oct.17.He said he was so injured that he could barely lift his head out of the water to breath.“Only half my head was above water.

I could pick my head up just enough to breathe and scream for help, then go back under,” the man said.After 30 minutes, help finally came.Three boys on fishing nearby heard Etheredge’s calls and rushed to him.“God put us there in the right time at the right place,” said 14-year-old Bentley Culpepper, who was fishing with his friends Griffin McDonald, 16, and Colt Hartfield, 15.

Griffin recalled, “It was scary just seeing him under there and yelling.”The three boys weren’t able to lift the ATV off Etheredge, so they ran to get a neighbor who could.“Glenn jumped into the pond and became ‘Superman,’ ” Etheredge said of the resident.“With one try, no second grip, he flipped that four-wheeler off me like it was an air mattress.”Etheredge called the boys his “three little angels” and hopes the community will celebrate their bravery and quick-thinking.
