Car thief allegedly steals Porsche, crashes into three cars and flips over in Midtown

A car thief with two prior arrests was charged after allegedly stealing a woman’s Porsche crashing it into three vehicles and flipping it over in Midtown while attempting to flee police Friday afternoon.Calvin Jones was hit with a bevy of charges after allegedly stealing a 39-year-old woman’s 2022 Porsche SUV that she left running on 15th Street and Union Square East, NYPD sources said.Police said they were notified of the theft at 3:04 pm Friday.Jones, 40, has two prior arrests on assault charges, police said.

When they arrived at the scene, they found out that the victim was tracking her car via an app on her cell phone.The police tracked Jones down and attempted to pull him over — but he instead allegedly attempted to flee and crashed his car into a 2019 Audi sedan and a 2016 Audi SUV and a 2024 Cadillac SUV, police sources said.Three people, two men aged 30 and 56 and a 39-year-old woman, were inside of the Cadillac at the time of the crash but were not injured, police said.

The car proceeded to flip over and Jones was hospitalized at Bellevue in stable condtion.He was arrested and charged with grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, unauthorized use of a vehicle, reckless driving, and driving without a license....
