The word that President Trump will have to embrace during the rest of his speaking tour is empathy (“Fixing Joe’s money mess,” Dec.10)All the statistics he cites to show how the economy is doing so much better will not win over the many who are struggling.

While I read about the “affordability” debate, I’m astonished that the GOP misses the two biggest factors for the high cost of living, one being housing costs, and the other the mostly hidden cost of government: taxes.For example, New Jersey has extremely high property taxes, which in my case, are about 10% of my income.There’s also an opportunity tax on every person in this country for the excessive cost of government and the horrendous use of capital.Wake up, GOP.Andrew J.MacDonaldFanwood, NJTrump is again on the camp...
