Patriots hold moment of silence for Brown University shooting victims

The New England Patriots held a moment of silence before kickoff in their game against the Bills at Gillette Stadium on Sunday after the deadly shooting at Brown University on Saturday in nearby Providence, Rhode Island. The Bills were also impacted by the tragedy, as the team was locked down in their hotel, which was located only two miles away from the shooting. A suspect was taken into custody on Sunday after the incident that left two people dead and multiple injured at the Ivy League school. According to police, a man in his 20s was taken in at the Hampton Inn in Coventry. The alleged shooter was armed with a handgun and fired dozens of shots. The Patriots released a statement stating, “The New England Patriots are heartbroken by the horrific events at Brown University.We extend our deepest sympathies to those affected and their families, and we remain grateful to the first responders and law enforcement who acted swiftly to protect the students, faculty, staff and the community.
