A demon radiator turned an Upper East Side apartment into a steam room from hell.A video of it spewing boiling water has become a viral sensation, racking up 9 million views for giving an influencer the scare of her life — and prompting a visit from the FDNY.Two weeks ago, Sam Souder woke up to a strange sound coming from her roommate’s bedroom — and when she went in to investigate, came face to face with the hot-tempered heater.“It was shaking and pulsating and leaking and it was really loud.Like it was just angry,” Souder told The Post.Souder, 27, a New Jersey native who moved into the prewar walkup in October with two roommates, took out her phone to capture the hateful hunk of metal.“The main reason I was videoing actually, was to show my roommates because I wanted them to come home.
I didn’t want them to think I was being dramatic,” she explained.Her roomies called the building’s super, who instructed to keep the radiator’s valve open while she waited for him to arrive.“When I went to turn the valve, it just flew off from the pressure.That’s when it started unloading with the water,” she recalled.Just minutes later, her second-floor apartment filled with so much steam, she couldn’t see in front of her.“I opened all the windows that I could and opened my door and I called my dad,” she said.She then called the FDNY.“People are like, ‘Why would you call the fire department?’ And I was like, ‘Because I was getting burned!'” she said.“The fire department that came was very helpful and very kind.
And they did tell me that it was a good thing that I called.”The firemen saved the day by shutting “a valve on the bottom that cuts the water,” Souder recalled.The maintenance man the building hired to fix it explained that a possible reason for the radiator’s reaction was that her roommate had been turning it on and off, which is not advised.The next day, Souder, who also works as model, decided to post the video she had...
