Pilot couple killed in plane crash caused by dirty windshield but their dog survives

A beloved Florida pilot and his wife died when their small plane crashed in Texas because of a dirty windshield — but their pup survived the tragic wreck, a report said.Ron and Barbara Timmermans died Wednesday evening after their Beechcraft A36 flew into a powerline near Brownsboro around 5:30 p.m.and plummeted into the ground near a row of neighborhood homes. The couple had just radioed that they were coming in for an emergency landing, and the plane struck the line as they were preparing to touch back down.“Oil covering the windshield” was listed as the cause of the emergency landing attempt, according to an FAA wreck report obtained by the Daily Mail. But the couple’s little lapdog — who was flying onboard with them — miraculously made it out of the wreck unscathed, and was scooped by airport neighbors who heard the plane come down right in front of their house.“The dog was alive, and so one of the neighbors took the dog to take care of,” neighbor Mary Ann Shoulders told KLTV.“It was just loud, just mangling,” she said.
“You could hear the metal mangling and stuff.”“I saw the woman and I didn’t recognize her because I thought it might be one of our neighbors, but I didn’t recognize her,” Shoulders added.Shocking photos showed the Timmermans’ plane nosed into the ground on Shoulders’ quiet street with its tail pointing into the sky.The couple owned an aviation business in the Orlando area, and Ron specialized in flight instruction.Colleagues who flew with him over the years said he would be “greatly missed.”“Ron was an important part of training hundreds of pilots over the years. He’s done hundreds of hours of interviews with people in the aviation industry,” the Florida Aviation Network told KVUE.Their pooch will be adopted by the Timmermans’ surviving family, according to officials....
