Eagles will not trade A.J. Brown for now after serious talks with two teams

A.J.Brown will remain an Eagle — for now. After trade talks heated up this week, Philadelphia won’t deal Brown “at this time,” according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. The Eagles had “serious conversations with both the Rams and Patriots,” around the star wide receiver, Russini said, but “no move is imminent.”Talks involving the wide receiver are expected to pick up as summer approaches. “If a trade were to happen, it would likely heat up closer to June 1,” Russini wrote on X.Last month, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Eagles were looking for a first- and second-round pick in return for Brown, who is currently in the midst of the three-year, $92 million extension he signed two offseasons ago.Despite rumors dating back to last season’s trade deadline and constant concerns about Brown’s happiness in Philadelphia, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman tried to shut down any rumors of parting ways with the pass catcher in February. “It’s really hard to find great players,” Roseman said.

“I think A.J.is a great player.

I think that, from my perspective, we’re looking to improve in all areas, and you don’t do that by subtracting.”Head coach Nick Sirianni, however, didn’t seem so convinced that Brown would be back next season. “Will A.J.be here next season? I think we’re still in a spot, like, I can’t guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season,” Sirainni said before the NFL Combine in February.

“I’m thinking I’m going to be the coach next season, but you can’t guarantee anything past tomorrow.”Brown, a second-round pick by the Titans in 2019, has had four straight 1,000 receiving seasons since joining the Eagles before the 2022 season. His numbers took a dip last season, though, going for just 1,003 yards through the air through 15 games. ...
