Luka Doncic breaks silence on split with ex-fiance amid child custody battle

As part of his personal life appears to be embroiled in drama, Luka Doncic broke his silence Thursday night amid a child custody battle with his ex-fiancée.After the Lakers superstar dropped 51 points in a victory over the Bulls at Crypto.com Arena, he was asked by a Slovenian reporter how he’s been able to perform on the court even when things haven’t been going well off of it.The 27-year-old, who’s dealing with what seems to be a messy split from his ex-fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, didn’t get into specifics of his private matters when he answered in his native Slovenian tongue, but he did relent he’s gotten very good at compartmentalizing things.“This is my job,” the point guard said.“So I have to be here.
They pay me a lot of money to play for them.So yeah, basketball also gives me some kind of peace of mind because I’m playing the game.”Doncic and Goltes dated for years and got engaged in July 2023.
The two went on to have two daughters together, but on Tuesday, Doncic revealed they broke up.The six-time All-Star told ESPN he’s been locked in a custody battle with his former partner, and, according to the outlet, cops actually got involved the last time he saw Goltes in Slovenia in December.Police, however, did not find any evidence of criminal wrongdoing, ESPN added. To make matters even more complicated, court documents revealed that just hours before Doncic confirmed their split, Goltes filed a petition for child support from him in Los Angeles County.Doncic, though, said a Wednesday afternoon trip to see sick patients at UCLA Health Medical Center has also helped him put things into perspective.California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.
