Teen suspect arrested for terrifying shooting at Santa Monica Pier

An 18-year-old has been arrested for the weekend shooting at Santa Monica Pier that sparked panic and chaotic scenes at the popular tourist destination.Jaysawn Williams, 18, of Rialto in San Bernardino County was busted after he went to a local hospital after the shooting Sunday night for treatment of a graze wound, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.He was taken to jail and booked on charges of assault with a firearm and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm.Two people, including Williams, were injured in the shooting.

The second victim suffered a gunshot wound to his arm during the violence, sparked by a large brawl, police said.The shooting temporarily closed the famous pier as crowds frantically fled the scene.Video from the incident showed a child playing a game in the pier’s arcade when gunshots rang out and visitors were seen sprinting away.California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.
