President Trump continues to say the Iranians want to make a deal (“Bridge-blast toll on Tehran,” April 3).The only acceptable deal should include the unconditional surrender and ousting of the entire Iranian regime.The dangerous use of ground forces may be necessary in the coming days to achieve this goal.This is when we, as patriotic Americans — Democrats and Republicans — need to support and pray for our heroes.

To them, failure is not an option.Don WhitmanCross RiverI agree with the president that Iran’s nuclear arsenal needs to be destroyed.When doing so, however, he needs to review the lessons learned from other leaders who caused needless loss of life by not having a realistic end state.It’s time for the president to set aside his ego and take a back seat.We can’t afford another failed cause, so Israel needs to take the lead in dismantling Iran’s nuclear arsenal.
