Eight children, including a baby, have been killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a crazed gunman opened fire in three different homes in the city.A total of 10 people were shot, eight of them fatally, with the victims’ ages ranging from 1 to 14, following the horrific scenes at around 6 a.m.Sunday, according to police.Some of the victims were “descendants” of the gunman, Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Christopher Bordelon told a news briefing.The two survivors were both described as adult women who had been shot in the head, with one suffering from life-threatening injuries.One of the women is believed to have been in a relationship with the suspect, according to Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith.Following the shooting, the gunman carjacked a vehicle and tried to escape, before being shot dead by cops in neighboring Bossier City following a police chase, according to authorities.The crime scene was described as “extensive” and spanned two homes on the same street and a third on a nearby street.“The individual responsible once leaving this scene performed a carjacking right here in close proximity to the corner of West 79th and Linwood, at which point in time, Shreveport police patrol officers got behind that vehicle in a chase incident,” Bordelon said.No police officers were injured in their pursuit of the suspect, who has not been named.“This is an extensive scene unlike anything most of us have ever seen,” Chief Smith said.Louisiana State Police said that their detectives have been asked to help investigate by the Shreveport PD, KSLA reported.Shreveport’s Mayor Tom Arceneaux described the shooting as one of the worst tragedy his city’s history.“This is a tragic situation — maybe the worst tragic situation we’ve ever had,” the mayor told a news conference.“It’s a terrible morning, and we all mourn for the victims,” he added....
