Maryland woman, teen daughter allegedly beat great-grandfather, 71, to death over parking space

A Maryland mother and her teenage daughter allegedly beat a great-grandfather over a parking spot, leading to his death weeks later, and now the mom could be hit with a new homicide charge.Kiannah Bonaparte, 49, was initially charged with first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, and reckless endangerment for the brutal attack on 71-year-old Baltimore transportation investigator Gregory Turnipseed, according to WBAL.The charges will most likely be upgraded to homicide after Turnipseed’s death was officially ruled a homicide by the medical examiner and Bonaparte rejected a plea deal Wednesday, Fox Baltimore reported. The mom is accused of kicking Turnipseed, who was on the job for Baltimore DOT, in the head — causing an ultimately fatal brain bleed — during the parking spot madness on October 15, 2025.According to prosecutors, the great-grandfather approached Bonaparte’s car to let her know another vehicle was waiting for the space she was turning into. Bonaparte’s 15-year-old daughter allegedly jumped out of the passenger seat and punched the Turnipseed in the face. When the 71-year-old tried to restrain the teen, Bonaparte allegedly jumped on his back, causing him to fall. The mom then delivered the final blow — kicking him in the head while he was down before driving off, prosecutors said.Turnipseed suffered a brain bleed and memory loss, but was able to identify Bonaparte in a lineup. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery, but couldn’t be saved. He died nearly six weeks after the attack, just one day before Thanksgiving.Turnipseed’s daughter, La’Cheryl Turnipseed-White, and cousin, Deborah Carrington, were present during the court proceedings on Tuesday. “I just thought it wasn’t real.
