Cooper Kupp wants no part of an Aaron Donald Rams comeback

One of Aaron Donald’s former Rams teammates who now plays for a rival wants him to stay retired.Cooper Kupp, the former Super Bowl MVP who won a championship with Donald four years ago and just won another ring with the Seahawks, said Wednesday on “The Rich Eisen Show” that he told Donald he’s not allowed to make a comeback.“I just texted Aaron and said, ‘Don’t even think about it,” Kupp said jokingly.“I just left it at that.
We’re good, I’m not worried about it.Because he’s not.”Kupp continued to joke that he already “nipped it in the bud,” while talking about Donald’s potential return.“I love Aaron, gosh, he’s such a good football player,” Kupp said.
“Great, dude.I loved taking the field with him down there in LA.”Donald has teased a comeback in the wake of the Rams’ blockbuster Myles Garrett trade.Kupp and Donald were teammates for seven seasons after Kupp was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The two were impactful players for the Rams for nearly a decade, appearing in two Super Bowls together and winning one during the 2021-2022 season. When the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 in Super Bowl 55, Kupp was crowned Super Bowl MVP after having eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, while Donald recorded the game-winning sack.Donald went on to play two more seasons with the Rams until he abruptly retired in 2023.Kupp was with the Rams until 2024 and went on to sign with the Seattle Seahawks.During Donald’s career, he was considered one of the most dominant players in football, being crowned as a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year winner. With the addition of Garrett, the Rams’ window to win a Super Bowl has opened up again as they are considered the favorite to win it next season, igniting the rumors of a reunion between Donald and the Rams.“I don’t care how old he is, how long he has not played, whatever,” Kupp said.
