Criminal-coddling NY pols: Letters to the Editor June 5, 2026

I agree with Rob DiMeo, who blamed the “self serving mayor, governor and Manhattan D.A.” for the death of his friend, Ross Falzone, who was shoved to death down subway stairs (“Furor at laws behind friend’s shocking death,” June 2).I’d take it one step further: The folks who vote for these politicians all share in having blood on their hands. Many politicians are like soiled diapers — they need to be changed frequently.Martin GarfinkleStaten IslandI was deeply touched by Rob DiMeo’s tribute to Ross Falzone.
But of even greater significance was his stinging indictment of all the forces at work that allowed this vile crime to take place. It’s not just the politicians. It’s also the public that turns a blind eye to the evil that freely walks the streets, inflicting harm on the law-abiding citizens of what once was a great metropolitan center.
And, what’s more horrible, fails to demand more from those who are supposed to mete out justice to the miscreants. There’s ample shame to be go around for this death and the many others who have shared Falzone’s fate.David ShapiroManhattanNew York’s dysfunctional, criminal-coddling justice system is responsible for the murder of Ross Falzone. In typical snowflake fashion, a woman threatened by the same perp earlier this year refused to press charges as she feared it would be “racist.” What’s the cause of this stupidity? The fear by both the left and right of being painted with the bogus “racist” label. This must stop.Anthony ParksGarden CityGov.
Hochul, Mayor Mamdani, and District Attorney Alvin Bragg need to be condemned for their misguided policies of expanding the rights of criminals at the expense of victims.Put the blame where it belongs.Joe ZeloofHamilton, NJRob DeMeo said it straight: Three clowns — the mayor, the governor and the Manhattan DA — are nothing but self-serving incompetent individuals who are doing absolutely nothing for the city of New York and its citizens.
