Teen wrestler claims she was sexually assaulted by transgender athlete in girls match: lawsuit

A female high school wrestler is suing for allegedly being sexually assaulted by a transgender opponent in a state tournament — accusing officials of failing to tell her she was facing a biological male.Kallie Keeler, a sophomore at Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington, alleges that her transgender opponent jammed his fingers through her spandex and penetrated her privates, according to the 74-page lawsuit filed this week by her and her mom, who filmed the troubling December bout.Keeler, who was 15 at the time, shouted to her mom on the sideline that her opponent’s fingers were “in my c—chie!” — and let herself be pinned just so it would stop, the suit claims. It was only later that she learned that she had been allegedly assaulted by a biological male, leaving her feeling “violated all over again,” according to the Keelers, who are represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) in the lawsuit.Keeler’s mother informed school officials about the incident, and even provided them with the video, but her complaints were ignored, the lawsuit said. The alleged assault wasn’t reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office until nearly two months later — and only after it gained media attention — in violation of the state’s 48-hour deadline for officials to report such sexual assault allegations, the filing alleges.Prosecutors declined to pursue charges last week, claiming that the charges could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, the New York Sun reported. The lawsuit is against the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, state and district officials and school employees. The trans athlete and the athlete’s family are not identified in the lawsuit. The WIAA permits students to participate in sports with their gender identity rather than their biological gender and state law prohibits discrimination based on gender identity.“Our client’s story is proof of the grave harms caused by lying about biology.
