Kudos for Kirsten Fleming’s excellent piece (“Kids with Down’s vanishing,” June 9).Back in the ’60s my friend’s mother gave birth to a child with Down Syndrome.The doctor immediately told her that he’d “take care of the baby.” She declined.
That baby, Grace, recently turned 60.She’s been gainfully employed by a non-profit organization and is loved by hundreds.
Imperfect?
