The mystery of Southern California’s notorious “Jetpack Man” may have just gained a bizarre new chapter.A pilot flying into LAX reported seeing what appeared to be a person in a wingsuit or possibly a skydiver soaring thousands of feet above the ground Sunday afternoon — reigniting speculation the enigmatic figure who baffled authorities years ago may be back. The startling sighting occurred as the crew of a Gulfstream jet was making its final approach into LAX.“We just had somebody cross above us around 4,000 feet in a wingsuit,” the pilot of Special Air Mission Flight 741 told the LAX control tower, according to air traffic control audio. The report immediately drew comparisons to the so-called “Jetpack Man,” a mysterious airborne figure spotted multiple times near LAX beginning in 2020 that sparked investigations by both the FAA and FBI.This time, however, authorities say it remains unclear exactly what the pilot saw.The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said its Air Bureau was notified by Southern California air traffic controllers of a possible skydiver west of the 605 Freeway and north of the 105 Freeway at about 2:30 p.m.Sunday.Deputies dispatched a helicopter to search the area but were unable to locate anyone. The aircraft that reported the sighting had departed earlier in the day from Joint Base Andrews and made a stop at Nellis Air Force Base before heading to LAX.The object or person was spotted less than 10 minutes before the plane landed, according to reports.
