DC is about to get a glow-up of historic proportions.President Trump plans to unleash a mind-boggling 851,000 fireworks over the National Mall during a massive July 4 rally marking America’s 250th birthday – a spectacle set to shatter a world record. The unprecedented pyrotechnic display, set to close the “Salute to America” bash, will obliterate the Guinness World Record for the largest fireworks display, previously set during the 2016 New Year celebrations at the Church of Christ in the Philippines with 810,904 fireworks.The New Year’s show ran for 1 hour, 1 minute, and 32.24 seconds in the pouring rain, records show.Trump announced Monday that the “largest fireworks show in history” will light up the skies over Washington, DC, as part of the major rally at the newly refurbished Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the record-smashing fireworks will be fired from several sites, including nearly two dozen barges around the nation’s capital.“Normally the fireworks are set off right along here,” Burgum told the Washington Reporter, referring to the area surrounding the Reflecting Pool.“This year, because of the size and scale of the thing, there are so many locations where the fireworks are going to be going off, including barges.”Dr.Kevin Griess, superintendent of National Mall and Memorial Parks, said pallets of explosives will line both sides of the iconic water basin, with about 13 barges on the Potomac River and seven more at sites along the West Potomac.The gargantuan display dwarfs the 7,000 fireworks launched last year for Independence Day, Griess said.“It’s many minutes longer and much more celebratory, “Burgum told the outlet.
