California Governor Gavin Newsom has tried to flip the script on President Trump and his administration as he and his wife Jennifer face a Department of Justice investigation.“The United States Department of Justice selectively leaked uncorroborated details about ongoing investigative matters involving the Governor and First Partner, so it should not be a problem for you to confirm whether US DOJ has opened any investigations into the instances of apparent public corruption detailed above involving the President and his allies,” Newsom wrote in a letter he shared Tuesday night.“Which is it?” he continued, asking whether the DOJ is targeting the President’s enemies or enforcing the law impartially.In a letter addressed to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche—who has not publicly commented on the investigation—Newsom accused the Trump administration and the DOJ of pursuing a politically motivated “fishing expedition” against him.California's top news, sports and entertainment delivered to your inbox every day.
