Mexico fans keep throwing World Cup reporters in the air on live TV

The World Cup is lifting the spirits of Mexican fans — literally.As El Tri have thrived in the tournament thus far, beating both South Africa and South Korea, a bizarre phenomenon has emerged.As Awful Announcing has documented, there have been several instances of reporters being thrown into the air by fans in Mexico.One of the earliest, if not the earliest example of the trend was when Fox Sports Mexico reporter Carlos Rodrigo Hernandez was lifted into the air at a party ahead of Mexico’s win over South Korea.The reporter seemed to take the friendly moment in stride, writing (in Spanish): “That’s live TV for you.”That sort of enthusiasm from fans has carried into other situations, as reporter Sergio Enrique Hernández got the same treatment on Wednesday, as did Italian journalist Alessio De Giuseppe while working for DAZN.At a FIFA fan festival in Monterrey, supporters also couldn’t resist picking up ESPN’s Óscar Gallardo.And Al-Araby TV reporter Ahmed Mohsen was lifted in the air while doing a live hit outside Guadalajara Stadium after Mexico’s victory over South Korea.The celebrations have been good-natured so far, though it remains to be seen just how chaotic things could get it Mexico makes a deep run in the tournament.They have already been confirmed as Group A winners, making their last group stage match against Czechia on Wednesday essentially a dead rubber from the co-hosts’ end.Mexico’s round of 32 matchup will come on June 30 against a third-place team from Group C, E, F, H or I....
