Military worker hit by gunfire dies after car crash near SoCal Air Force base

A military staffer was found with an apparent gunshot wound after a car crash near an Air Force base in Riverside County Tuesday morning, authorities said.The victim, a contractor with the American Forces Network, died after the crash near March Air Reserve Base about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.Deputies were initially dispatched to investigate a reported assault with a deadly weapon.The crash involved an SUV and a sedan and occurred outside the base.Both drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to the California Highway Patrol.“It was later determined that the subject had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
“The Moreno Valley Investigation Bureau assumed the investigation.No further details are available as the investigation remains ongoing.”The American Forces Network is a worldwide broadcasting service operated by the Department of Defense that provides radio and television programming to US service members, civilian employees and their families stationed overseas.
