Brea Police issues warning after homeowner discovers creepy spying device hidden in bushes

A sneaky surveillance camera hidden in neighborhood bushes has sparked fears that burglars are spying on unsuspecting homeowners before striking, prompting an urgent warning from police in an Orange County city.The camouflaged device was discovered by chance when a Brea resident spotted it concealed in shrubbery and designed to blend into its surroundings, according to authorities.Police warned that crooks are increasingly planting hidden cameras near homes to secretly monitor residents’ schedules, track when they leave and return, and identify the perfect window to break in.The high-tech tactic allows thieves to case targets from afar while remaining virtually undetected, cops said.“Burglary crews typically use these devices to surveil homeowners, track daily routines, identify valuables, and determine the best time to break in,” Brea Police Department posted on X and Facebook.The cops said that these cameras are usually hidden in bushes, planters, or trees, blending seamlessly into the landscaping.Homeowners have been advised to regularly check their surroundings and install security cameras to avoid robbery and theft by assailants.
