Indiana man charged with stalking WNBA star Sophie Cunningham

An Indiana man faced stalking, harassment and intimidation charges for allegedly sending threatening and explicit messages to WNBA star Sophie Cunningham via social media, officials said.Subscribe to read this story ad-free Get unlimited access to ad-free articles and exclusive content.Kevin Singh, 48, was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced.“The internet has made it easier than ever to target, harass and intimidate others.Threats of violence, whether face-to-face or behind a keyboard, will be taken seriously,” the statement read in part.

“Coming forward is never easy, regardless of a person’s position or public profile.The victim is setting an example by speaking out.” Singh began harassing Cunningham, a guard for the Indiana Fever, in 2025, Mears said.

His behavior escalated in February after a security team reached out to him about his conduct, Mears said.Singh is currently on probation in Hendricks County following guilty pleas to two counts of invasion of privacy, both Level 6 felonies.Five additional felony charges — including a lead stalking charge and a habitual offender sentencing enhancement — were dismissed.This is the second time a man has been charged with stalking Fever players, officials said.

In July 2025, Michael Lewis pleaded guilty to stalking and harassment and was sentenced to more than two years in prison.Cunningham, a former University of Missouri player, recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Fever — a deal she described as frustrating given its short duration.She is widely regarded as the team’s enforcer for her physical playing style and willingness to confront opposing players.The 29-year-old was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in 2019 and played in the Southwest before being traded to the Fever in 2025.
