Shocking number of teens busted under California citys curfew crackdown

A California town has revealed the shocking number of teens busted after the Central Valley city announced a nighttime curfew for kids following a string of crimes.The Fresno Police Department announced its officers would be conducting a “summer crime suppression operation” starting June 10 for two weeks intended to “reduce dangerous traffic‑related offenses, prevent violent crime, and ensure that kids and teens have a safe summer.”The Fresno Police Department said “Operation Safe Summer was a success.”Officers conducted hundreds of arrests against violators, including the safe return of 228 juveniles to their parents/guardians during the curfew crackdown designed to keep kids in the city safe during the late-night hours.In addition to the kids under 18 who were returned home, the department said 228 parents are now educated on curfew laws.“In regards to the juvenile contacts made, the safety of the juveniles contacted was the priority for our officers and not a single administrative citation was issued,” the department told The California Post.“The juveniles were simply returned to their parents/guardians, and the parents were educated on the municipal code relating to curfew.““We are grateful for the cooperation of the parents, and that all the juveniles contacted were safely returned to their parents instead of potentially becoming victims of a crime.”The crackdown was enforced every night from 10:00 p.m.

to 5:00 a.m.for kids under 18.Despite all this good news, teen crime is still happening.

Fresno PD is currently investigating a shooting at an apartment in Northwest Fresno on Tuesday night.“Officers located a victim, 19-year-old Edgar Hernandez, inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gun-shot injury to his upper body.Hernandez was transported to CRMC, where he was treated but later died,” per PD.A 13-year-old juvenile has been arrested and booked into custody for manslaughter in connection with the deadly shooting.Police...
