Trump-backed Julia Letlow takes victory in Louisiana GOP Senate primary runoff

Trump-endorsed Louisiana Rep.Julia Letlow defeated State Treasurer John Fleming in the state’s Senate Republican primary runoff Saturday — marking the latest display of the president’s primary election pull.Letlow will be the GOP’s nominee come November, having received over 55% of the vote compared to Fleming’s 45%, with 41% of the votes counted.Trump endorsed Letlow – elected in 2021 to fill the seat of her husband Luke, who died of complications from COVID-19 – in January in advance of the May primary, helping take down incumbent Sen.
