Watch Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran Spontaneously Crash a Wedding to Perform 'Repeat It' Live

On a typical Saturday night, a wedding reception at the Chicago Planetarium might feature a standard playlist of predictable EDM anthems from Martin Garrix, like ‘In the Name of Love.’ This weekend, one pair of newlyweds unexpectedly received Garrix himself, alongside Ed Sheeran.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The surprise appearance originated from a simple social media plea.
Garrix and Sheeran were both in Chicago performing respective headlining concerts at the Huntington Bank Pavilion and Soldier Field.A fan named Mike Kindelin realized his sister was hosting her wedding reception at the planetarium, situated a very short distance from the pavilion on Northerly Island, so he DMed Garrix to ask if the superstar DJ might take a brief detour to congratulate the bride and play a single song.
To the astonishment of the wedding party, Garrix accepted the invitation and brought along Sheeran, with whom he recently released ‘Repeat It,’ a collaborative dance anthem more than a decade in the making. The two musicians arrived at the venue following their massive stadium and waterfront shows and quickly took command of the musical equipment to deliver a private, intimate performance of the song for the elated crowd.
Believe it or not, the occasion wasn’t the first or even the second time Sheeran has crashed a wedding. The chart-topping superstar surprised newlyweds in Sydney in 2015 with a performance of ‘Thinking Out Loud’ before popping up at a Las Vegas chapel in 2023, when he serenaded a couple with his song ‘Magical’ and even signed their marriage license as a witness.
