Bosnia-Herzegovina coach grabs ball, gets yellow card as he flips out in World Cup loss to USMNT

Bosnia-Herzegovina manager Sergej Barbarez earned himself a yellow card in a wild moment late in the U.S.men’s national team’s 2-0 win in the Round of 32 matchup at Levi’s Stadium on Wednesday night in Santa Clara, Calif. The Bosnian manager was irate and grabbed the ball after the refs didn’t blow the whistle following a physical play between Esmir Bajraktarević and Antonee Robinson. The two opposing players were trying to make a play on the ball when Bajraktarević and Robinson collided into each other, sending the Bosnian player to the ground. The ball ended up going out of bounds moments later, and an irate Barbarez picked up the ball before starting to scream in the direction of the official. He continued to yell and at one point, seemed to refuse to give the ball to Malik Tillman along the sideline and continued to yell at the official.Brazilian referee Raphael Claus went up to Barbarez, who eventually dropped the ball.
After a back-and-forth, Barbarez was assessed a yellow card. There was plenty of drama during Wednesday’s win for the United States, which included losing Folarin Balogun after he was given a red card in the 64th minute after he stepped on the back of the foot and ankle of Bosnia’s Tarik Muharemović.Balogun scored the match’s first goal and Tillman scored in the 82nd minute to seal the win. The win was the United States’ first victory in the knockout round since 2002. It ended Bosnia’s run in the World Cup, which was the country’s second appearance at the tournament.
