Disturbing details on death of young woman who died on Carnival cruise near Catalina Island

The young woman who jumped off a Carnival cruise ship near Catalina Island committed suicide, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said Thursday.Briana Miller, 24, leapt off the balcony of the Carnival Firenze after an argument with her family and landed on the deck below on April 27.Her family alerted staff after she fell.The medical examiner said she died of “blunt trauma.”Miller and her family had been on a four-night cruise with stops at Catalina Island and Ensenada.
Her fall happened before the ship reached the iconic island.The FBI told The Post they were investigating her death.A law enforcement source said Miller’s body was transported from the ship and her family left the same day.“The FBI responded to the ship when it docked in Catalina Island on Monday and is investigating an incident on board which resulted in death,” FBI spokeswoman Lourdes Arocho told The Post.“More specific details are not being provided at this time as the investigation is ongoing,” Arocho added.Carnival spokeswoman Julie Leonardi previously confirmed the passenger’s death, adding that the victim was traveling with family who alerted the ship’s crew of the horrific episode.“As is customary following these kinds of incidents, law enforcement was on board while the ship was in Catalina Island on Monday to collect information,” Leonard said.More information about Miller and her background is unclear.
