Radical leftists like Mamdani and Chevalier are no longer Democratic Party anomalies

It’s time to worry — for real: Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros’ win in Colorado shows the anti-America, anti-Israel, antisemitic, anti-capitalism virus has spread well beyond Blue York. On Tuesday, the Ethiopian-born Kiros — who’s publicly defended anti-Israel campus protests, criticized opponents of antisemitism and said 9/11 and Oct.7 were “inevitable” — unseated 15-term incumbent Democratic Rep.
Diana DeGette. And in the race for Michigan’s open US Senate seat, the alarming frontrunner is Abdul El-Sayed, who campaigns with Hasan Piker; Piker is the radical nut who maintains that America “deserved” 9/11.In New York, Darializa Aviles Chevalier won her primary fight despite having bragged of wiping her hands on the American flag and having led an anti-Israel group that declared it was “fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization.” Zohran Mamdani, El-Sayed, Chevalier and Kiros are not anomalies; they’re now the face of the Democratic Party. And that’s downright scary. The Democratic Socialists of America and other lefty party insurgents have enjoyed numerous successful primary victories, where they took out incumbent Democrats they view as insufficiently radical. Most horrifying, in the bizarro world of this political cycle, these young insurgents actually earned extra electoral points for their antisemitism. Katrina DeVille, a transgender DSA candidate running for Congress in Wisconsin who accuses Israel of “genocide,” even had a campaign volunteer call for violence against Republicans.Indeed, DSA candidates have relentlessly echoed anti-Israel and pro-Hamas propaganda, making the Gaza war a wedge issue. And instead of pushing back, the mainstream Democratic leadership is welcoming the newbies: House Minority Leader Rep.
Hakeem Jeffries just extended an olive branch to them.Subscribe to our daily Post Opinion newsletter! Please provide a valid email.
