NYC cops hunt for killer who slashed mom on 4th of July

NYPD officers were hunting for a woman dressed in red, white and blue who allegedly stabbed her mother to death in Queens on Saturday, cops said.The 30-year-old suspect allegedly cut her 59-year-old mom, identified as Ausha Ramlakhan, in the neck and shoulder with a sharp object around 3:30 p.m.in South Ozone Park, Queens, according to police.

Another family member discovered the bloodied victim at the home on 128th Street near Liberty Avenue and called 911, police said.Responding emergency workers pronounced the victim dead at the scene.The suspect fled on foot and was last seen wearing blue yoga pants, a red tank top and white sneakers, police said.

Detectives gathered in front of the home later — carrying an evidence bag and taking photos, video shows.A motive for the killing wasn’t immediately known, cops said.The 106th Precinct has seen a 7% increase in major crimes so far this year to 782 from 730 at the same point last year, according to NYPD data.The killing appeared to be the precinct’s first homicide so far this year, the data show.

There was one at the same point last year.Felony assault has increased by 18% so far this year to 206 from 175, robbery is up by about 17% to 101 from 86 and grand larceny by 16% from 247 to 286, the precinct data show.Rape is up to 11 from seven so far this year in the precinct, the data show, but rape increases citywide have been attributed to a change in the crime’s legal definition....
