Bonobo has released a pair of new singles ahead of his eighth studio album, Distance in Static.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The centerpiece of the two-pronged release is ‘Fire on the Water,’ an atmospheric collaboration with Grammy-winning singer Arooj Aftab.
The second single, ‘Drift,’ pivots more toward the dancefloor with a melodic house beat that had already found a home in Bonobo’s live sets, where its palpitating rhythms have made it a favorite among fans who caught early performances this year.The two tracks suggest an album that moves fluidly between intimacy and energy, a balance Bonobo has explored with finesse throughout his illustrious career.
Together, they “offer the clearest glimpse yet into the sonic world of Distance in Static,” according to a press release.The album will feature 14 tracks and include contributions from Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis and Aanya Martin, with lyrics spanning English, Urdu and Japanese.
