Beatles legend Ringo Starr celebrates 86 birthday in Beverly Hills

It’s a Beatle bash in Beverly Hills. Ringo Starr celebrated his 86th birthday with fellow rock stars and hundreds of fans at his annual Peace and Love celebration in one of LA’s most iconic neighborhoods Tuesday.“It’s LA.I love LA, I love the light, and we’re pretty much guaranteed a beautiful day like today,” Starr said as he took the stage just before noon to lead his annual “Peace and Love” chant — a birthday tradition since 2008.“We started in Chicago with like 40 people,” Starr told The California Post.

“We gave the crowd little cakes and by 8 p.m.that night they were on the internet being sold for a grand.”The celebration has since grown into a Beverly Gardens Park tradition, drawing hundreds of fans.

It begins with the Beatles drummer posing beside the 800-pound stainless steel Peace and Love statue he donated to the city before cutting a giant birthday cake decorated with his likeness.Starr and the crowd then watched a band,The Texans, fronted by Molly Tuttle who played on Ringo’s last two country albums, belt out Fab Four favorites like “Drive My Car” and “Octopus’s Garden.”The highlight came when Starr’s famous friends — including Grammy-winning guitarist T-Bone Burnett, drummer Jim Keltner, actor Ed Begley Jr., and his wife, former Bond girl Barbara Bach — serenaded the legend with “Happy Birthday.”“I think of Ringo as a great singer.I love his voice, I love his storytelling.

He has this beautiful generosity; he’s just getting better as he gets older,” Burnett told The Post.Beatlemania was on full display for the bash, reminiscent to 1964 when the Beatles first came to LA for their infamous Hollywood Bowl show.Beatle fans displayed signs paying tribute to the band’s iconic albums including Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Yellow Submarine. Chris Cater, host of “Breakfast With The Beatles,” America’s longest running Beatles show, was greeted by fans at the party.Carter announced ...
