Mike Trout ready for All-Star Game as he makes return from IL

Mike Trout hasn’t played in an All-Star Game since 2019.More than five years later, the Los Angeles Angels star is set to make his 12th All-Star appearance at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, less than 50 miles away from Trout’s hometown.The Angels activated Trout from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, making him available for the Midsummer Classic on July 14.

Trout missed the 2021-23 All-Star Games because of injury, but it appears he is on track to be a starting outfielder for the American League under manager John Schneider.The 34-year-old landed on the IL with a right hamstring strain on June 17, but he was projected to return in time for the event.

This season, Trout has slashed .234/.394/.472 with 17 homers, 36 RBIs, 12 doubles, seven stolen bases, 54 runs across 74 games.Since the 2021 campaign, the former MVP has dealt with a slew of injuries for the last couple of seasons.

Trout’s availability, or lack thereof, was the reason he wasn’t selected to be an All-Star in 2024.It marked the first time in his career he didn’t earn the honor.
