Dan Tyminski joined Kygo onstage at the DJ’s Palm Tree Music Festival for a rendition of ‘Hey Brother,’ the generational dance anthem released by Avicii.Ad 0:00 Click for sound 0:00 / 0:00 The bluegrass singer-songwriter recorded the original vocal on the 2013 single, a folk and dance hybrid that helped define Avicii’s early sound and has since eclipsed a billion streams on Spotify.

Tyminski’s appearance came during Kygo’s set at the sixth annual Hamptons edition of the festival, held at the Shinnecock Nation in Southampton.“I had the pleasure of singing this next song with Avicii back in the day.

You can join in on this one, I know it,” Tyminski told the crowd before launching into the track.“Let’s go baby,” one audience member screamed back.

Kygo, who has credited Avicii as his “biggest musical inspiration” and the reason he started making electronic music, later shared a clip of the performance on his social media.He and Tyminski have stayed connected to the Swedish EDM icon’s legacy beyond that surprise collaboration in the Hamptons, having teamed up earlier this year to release ‘Heaven On Your Mind,’ a tribute track built around Tyminski’s distinctive voice.
